Odii Boosts Ebonyi Community with ₦150M Investment
In 2023, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, who represents the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as their gubernatorial candidate in Ebonyi State, provided the Isuchara community with an amount of N150 million to enhance agricultural output during the ongoing economic difficulties facing Nigeria.
During the Isuachara Day festivities and an elaborate welcome ceremony honoring him, the business tycoon revealed this information at Isuachara Primary School, located within the Anioma Isu region of Ebonyi State’s Onicha Local Government Area.
According to Odii, three beneficiaries would be selected from each of the five kindred that make up Isuachara for modern agricultural training. He pledged to support the fifteen selected participants with N3 million each after completing their training.
Aside from the empowerment program, Odii backed the community’s N300 million town hall project by donating N20 million, vowing to provide additional support should the money be managed wisely.
The philanthropist additionally provided N20 million to the organizing committee of the event, alongside unspecified financial support to various other organizations.
"Our community is renowned for its abundant production of rice, yams, cassavas, and vegetables, which has shaped our community members into primarily agricultural folks, and this is why I am backing their efforts," he said.
He elaborated, "This agricultural empowerment initiative will include three individuals from each of the five clans, totaling 15 recipients. These selected participants will receive training in contemporary farming techniques. Following their completion of this program, they will be provided with N3 million each to establish their own agricultural ventures."
Odii, who received the chieftaincy title "Omeziriobodo 1 of Isuachara" along with six other notable members from his community, mentioned that this agricultural support project will turn into an annual event held sequentially for different individuals within the community.
Mr Emmanuel Ogudu, the National Chairman of the Isuachala Development Union, stated that the prestigious reception and chieftaincy honor were awarded to Odii in acknowledgment of his outstanding contributions to humanity. He praised Odii's efforts and voiced optimism that this yearly event would promote increased solidarity amongst the residents of Isuachara.
Also speaking, the Chairman on the occasion, Prof Ogbonna Ogbu, who was also among the chieftaincy award recipients, expressed appreciation for the 2025 celebration of Isuachara Day.
