Kogi Rejects Claims of Assassination Conspiracy Targeting Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Commissioner for Information in Kogi State, Kingsley Fanwo, has refuted allegations that ex-Governor Yahaya Bello, current Governor Usman Odemo, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio plotted to kill Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In reaction to the accusations, Fanwo said that no conversation ever took place regarding a plan to remove Akpoti-Uduaghan.

On Tuesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan leveled accusations when she addressed a gathering of supporters in her hometown within the Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State. According to her claims, although the scheme wasn’t officially announced, knowledge about it had reached the Nigeria Police Force.

The second point he made was that he intended to attempt my murder. I kept this private, but I have sent a letter to the Inspector General of Police about it.

As she claims, Akpabio reportedly attempted to initiate moves for her expulsion from the Senate following his promise of financial assistance to the ex-governor.

She additionally stated that Akpabio suggested to Bello that any assault on her should take place in Kogi State instead of Abuja, so as to make it appear like a localized incident.

"Akpabio informed Yahaya Bello that he must ensure I am not killed in Abuja; instead, it should occur here so that it appears as though local people were responsible for my death," she stated.

During an interview with Channels TV, Fanwo denied the allegations, firmly stating that both Governor Ododo and the Senate President never discussed recalling or causing harm to the senator.

The governor (Ododo) and the senate president did not discuss anything related to the suspended senator (Natasha) from Kogi Central.

"There were no conversations to remember her, and there were no discussions to vilify her," he stated.
