AIADMK slams A Raja's remark on religious symbols in DMK garbs

Chennai (Tamil Nadu), India, April 2 (ANI): AIA DMK National Spokesperson Kovai Sathyan has strongly criticised DMK General Secretary A Raja regarding his latest comments instructing party members to take off religious markers such as the 'Tilak' while dressed DMK garbs.

On Wednesday, Sathyan asserted that Raja’s remarks demonstrate a poor grasp of social culture and structure, referring to his comments as “rantings” with minimal significance.

Sathyan highlighted the inconsistency between Raja's comments and the previous statement made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, who stated, “Although I am an atheist, I do not prevent believers from practicing their religion, even my spouse.” Sathyan implied that Raja’s stance contradicts the inclusive attitude that CM Stalin has promoted.

In response to Raja's remarks being ignored even within his party, he stated, "Not even his own party members pay attention to him."

At the same time, Sathyan criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s recent request to reclaim Katchatheevu Island from Sri Lanka. He dismissed CM Stalin’s appeal as “another electoral stunt” and cast doubt on the Chief Minister’s grasp of administration.

Sathyan highlighted that over the course of 16 years when DMK had allied itself with Congress at the Center, but no substantial steps had been taken regarding the Katchatheevu island dispute.

What was he up to when they DMK Sathyan questioned whether Stalin had previously been an ally of Congress and had shared power for 16 years at the Center, implying that his present position might be politically driven.

Sathyan went on to dismiss the Tamil Nadu Assembly's bill regarding the issue, casting doubt on its validity.

He stated, "What value does a bill in the Tamil Nadu Assembly hold? Nonetheless, should there be any initiatives for recovery, we back those efforts." (ANI)
