Actor Ajith Deplores Pahalgam Terror Attack: 'May We Learn Empathy'

New Delhi [India], April 28 (ANI):Actor Ajith expressed his sorrow over the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack and offered prayers for the families affected by this tragedy.

The assault led to the fatalities of 26 individuals, primarily visitors, in the picturesque Baisaran Valley within Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district.

Ajith voiced his wish for these kinds of events to be avoided in the future and encouraged everyone to cultivate empathy towards each other.

"My thoughts go out to all the families affected, and I genuinely hope and pray that these incidents do not occur again. I trust that the government is putting forth their utmost effort. Let’s cross our fingers and continue praying that eventually, over some time, we develop empathy for each other and set aside our differences to coexist peacefully as a society," Ajith stated to ANI.

The star from 'Vedalam' also honored the courage and contributions of the military personnel, who work relentlessly to safeguard the country.

“I encountered numerous individuals serving in the military today (Monday),” Ajith shared. “I feel compelled to express my gratitude to everyone who has made personal sacrifices. Their tireless efforts allow us to enjoy safe nights without worry. My thoughts go out to these brave souls along with their loved ones; may they lead wonderful lives together. These dedicated men and women vigilantly protect our nation’s frontiers day and night. In honor of their unwavering service, we ought to foster mutual respect among citizens within India—embracing diversity across religions and social castes alike. Instead of internal conflicts, let us strive towards building a harmonious community.”

On April 22, an assault took place at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, where attackers targeted visitors. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepali national, with multiple individuals sustaining injuries. The incident ranks among the most lethal assaults in the area since the 2019 Pulwama strike, wherein 40 CRPF members lost their lives.

After the assault, the Central government stated that both the terrorists involved in the attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam as well as those who orchestrated it will be met with harsh consequences.

Following the incident, the Central government has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 pending credible and irreversible action by Pakistan to renounce its backing of cross-border terrorism and close the integrated Attari checkpoint. Additionally, as of April 27, the Central government has canceled all types of visas granted to Pakistani nationals, excluding long-term, diplomatic, and official visas. (ANI)
