Part of the statement said, "President William Ruto expressed gratitude to the African Development Bank (AfDB) for collaborating with Kenya over the last six decades to advance key sectors of the nation's development."
The President presented the remarks during a ceremony on Monday at State House in Nairobi where he awarded AfDB President and Chairman of the Board, Akinwumi Adesina, with the Chief of the Order of Golden Heart (CGH) award.
"It is an honor for me to be able to confer this recognition as President, and representing the citizens of Kenya, due to your exceptional service, dedication, and enthusiasm displayed towards our nation," Ruto was quoted as stating.
Receiving the award, Adesina stated, "This fills me with genuine humility due to your remarkable generosity. It’s such an immense honor, a distinct advantage, and a momentous acknowledgment! The nation I hold dear, Kenya, reciprocates my affection, recognizing and acclaiming my guidance within the African Development Bank."
On behalf of my beloved spouse and your sibling, Grace, along with the Board of Directors at the African Development Bank, our various governing bodies, the management team, and all employees of the institution, as well as personally, I gratefully accept this honor.
