Oscar-Winner Mikey Madison on Her Casting by Sean Baker in "Anora"

Los Angeles [USA], March 20 (ANI): Mikey Madison is reveling in the success of her Oscar victory following her role in 'Anora'.

In Sean Baker's "Anora," Mikey takes on the part of a young sex worker from Brooklyn.

When selecting Mikey for the role, Baker mentioned, “Despite having limited screen time in 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood,' she left an indelible mark. Her versatility in taking on various characters, her quicksilver shifts in emotion, her comedic timing, her courage in making bold decisions, and particularly her incredible scream—these qualities caught our attention. Following a meeting where we discovered she shared similar cinematic interests and enthusiasm for my concept, we tailored the part specifically for her.”

Madison was excited about the outreach — and taken aback, as mentioned in a press release.

She remembered being stunned that Sean wanted to meet her, but she didn’t plan on questioning it.

"I absolutely love his creations, and 'Tangerine' stands out as one of my favorite films. Recently, I had a meeting over coffee with Sean and Samantha, who shared an incredible and wild concept with me. Sean sought my thoughts and whether I would consider bringing their vision to life through filmmaking. Without hesitation, I agreed. It made me feel incredibly fortunate to have been chosen by him for collaboration," Madison commented.

At the 97th Academy Awards, Anora was a big winner, securing five Oscars, among which were Best Picture and Best Director. After its successful release, the movie can now be streamed solely on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub. (ANI)
